HISTORY

In 1993 a group of people interested in woodturning met monthly in a Burlington lumber store. When the store closed in 1995, an organizing committee was struck and the Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild, 29 members strong, first met in January 1996 at the Lord Elgin High School. The Guild became the 150th Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners in 2000. Through various venues and strong executive direction, the Guild has grown to about 140 members.

MISSION

The mission of the Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild is to provide education and information to its members and potential members, from beginners to advanced turners, to assist them in becoming more proficient turners, to operate their workshops in the safest way possible, and to encourage participation in the wider turning community through membership in the American Association of Woodturners.
