Jim William (Turning Trees), from the Kawartha Woodturners Guild, demonstrated his technique for turning a Cowboy Hat.  Jim also shared some of the other styles of hats he previously turned (see pics below).  The black cowboy hat that looks like it is made from straw was actually turned thin and then sandblasted to give the see-through effect.  Many thanks to Jim for a great session.  Members can find instructions on how he turns a cowboy hat on our Resources -> Tips & Techniques tab after logging in.  Video of this demonstration will be made available to members only at a later date. 


Thank you Jim as well for his generous donation of a customized GHWG-logo Cowboy Hat.  This hat will accompany us to all our public presentations and showings and serve as a great piece to showcase the art of woodturning.

Christmas dinner and competition event.   Christmas ornaments were made by each member and then given out to guests in appreciation for their continuous support  of our woodturning hobbie.
