What is Woodturning?

For those who are not familiar with this intriguing activity, woodturning is a unique form of woodworking that uses a lathe.  Normally, woodworking involves the moving  of a hand or power tool along or across a piece of wood to create various designs and forms. In woodturning, the wood itself is spinning on a lathe and the tool is relatively stationary. This change in dynamics allows for an incredible variety of outcomes especially when the tool is in the hands of an experienced turner. A visit to our members' photo gallery will bear witness to this.
