Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild's  2023 Spring Competition.

We were pleased to hold the 2023 Spring Competition during our final meeting before summer break at Exotic Woods in Burlington on Thursday June 15, 2023.   The Spring Competition was another great success with 44 entries and over 65 people in attendance.  The attached PowerPoint presentation highlights the winners of each category.  Winners and pics are also listed below.

Special thanks to our expert panel of judges; Andrea Perego, Chris Arcand, Mike Sheppard and John Hordyk Sr who decided on the "Most Promising Novice" and the "Best In Show" awards.

Welcome to the Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild 2023 Spring Competition.

We are pleased to be holding the 2023 Spring Competition during our final meeting before summer break at Exotic Woods in Burlington.  This will be held at our usual 3rd Thursday meeting, on Thursday June 15, 2023.   

Judging for Best in Show will be conducted by a panel of 3 judges this year.  Please take a moment at the competition to thank them for their participation and support: 

    • We welcome back John Hordyk, founder of Exotic Woods who has judged many of our Spring Competitions in the past.  
    • Mike Sheppard is a former member of our guild and past-President of the Burlington Guild of Sculptors and Woodcarvers.  Mike has experience judging both turning and carving competitions at shows in Toronto, Woodstock, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Belleville and at the Erie County Fair. 
    • Andrea Perego, the current President of the Burlington Guild of Sculptors and Woodcarvers has an excellent eye for style and form.
