UPDATED EVENT DESCRIPTION:
This evening is a total Hands-On night and will focus on only one turner, Charles Jordan, while inviting others to give it a try.
Charles is going to demonstrate some basics of bowl turning, paying particular attention to how he sharpens his bowl gouges as well as the shaping of wings and bevel angle. Charles is big on 60 degree bevel angle with swept back wings. He is going to demonstrate how (to get things started) and then urge people to take a try ... under his watchful eye of course.
In addition, two additional lathes will be set up for use by anyone, either for practice or advice. Members are encouraged to bring in projects where perhaps they are struggling and need advice, and work on it under the guidance of an expert turner. Please be respectful of your time on the lathe, especially if there are others waiting for their turn.
Please Note: This hands-on evening WILL NOT be streamed live in our usual hybrid meeting format. Charles will be recorded and we will try to make an edited video available on our YouTube channel.
PROFILE PICTURES: Remember, if you haven't had your annual profile picture taken, or haven't added one of your own to our website, please see Scott Tipping and smile pretty!
SALT/PEPPER MILLS: If you order S&P mechanisms last month, they are ready for pickup on May 11 & May 18. A table will be set up near the door. Please make arrangements to get them on one of these days as we don't want to store them all summer.
All are welcome. Guests are invited to join an introductory meeting to see how they like the group, then encouraged to sign up online and become a member of the Guild. Please let the Host know (verbally or via Chat) that you are a guest when you join.
